a good photographer is hard to find...

But this guy knows whats up. This is exactly the type of work I like to look at. The images are just straight up good pictures. Compositionally pleasing, technically good, interesting subject matter. I will be so glad when everyone stops trying to make "these are my hip, beautiful friends running around naked/drinking and doing drugs/hanging out at hip places" types of pictures. BORINGGGG

i found the cure

hangovers dont stand a chance against some motherfucking TAQUITOS from 7-11!

i was feeling the effects of a late booze filled night the other morning, so i stopped by 7-11 on my way to work to see if they had something to combat that my stomach hates me right now feeling. i decided to go out on a limb here and get a couple spinach and cheese taquitos and HOLY SHIT were they good. my stomach was instantly much happier, and that slight pounding that might turn into a raging headache any second- GONE. KFC biscuits have met their match.

Taco Tuesday was fun. Lauren found a razor scooter in the trash and took it home the other day. Since then we been on that thing alot but we definitely don't have as much fun as this kid is! Damn kids have all the fun.

Good Craft

There is a recipe for creating an impactful design. Everyone is raving about concept! concept! but look at this beautiful idea and imagine it if they couldn't cut a straight line. Here is another example of great design from England. Soon, I hope I can make a trip over there.

dog park days

I took ringo to the dog park yesterday, since it felt like springtime for once. Two young boys came in behind me. I would say their age was 11-13. They did not have dogs with them, so they were hesitant to come into the dog park.
"Is that a golden retriever?" One of the boys asked me.

"no, he's just a hound dog mix." I do not think he knew what a hound dog mix meant. He seemed like the kind of kid who only knew people with pitbulls.

as more people came into the dog park, the kid would ask anyone with a yellowish colored dog if it was a golden retriever.

"I really like golden retrievers." he said to me.

I thought that was interesting since he was not entirely sure what a golden retriever looks like.

"I really want a dog, but my parents wont let me have one cause our backyard is made of dirt and they said the dog would poop and we wouldn't be able to find it and our whole yard would be poop"

"well, you could always bring your dog here to poop" I suggested. He continued to talk about how he liked dogs a lot. He kept trying to pick up a tiny dog who did not want to be picked up. He asked me if you could bring cats here.

"you could" I told him, "but I think the cat would just jump the fence and run away."

"oh yea"

I was thoroughly enjoying these kids enthusiasm for the dog park. Finally, after about 7 wrong golden retriever guesses, someone with an actual golden retriever came in. The kid jumped up and said "thats a golden retriever!"

the owner said "yes, it is a golden retriever."

Then I lost my dog park friend because he went to go play with the golden retriever.

last night...

I had a dream that i cleaned the dirt from under my toenails with my toothbrush. Now I'm scared to go brush my teeth.

good people

i like to look at photographs a lot, since thats what i ended up majoring in in college. of all the peoples pictures i look at, theres one person whos photos never cease to amaze me. this persons name is Alec Soth. i dont really want to launch into a commentary of his work, but i do really want you to look at it. i just looked at his website again since i started writing this, and i have hard time not writing something about it. but i dont want to you to look at his work with any preconceived ideas in your head. so just click click click and look at each and every picture on the site and enjoy.

aldonious's name is really just aldo

one time aldo told me his name was aldo joseph, and that he had a twin brother named joseph aldo. then his family came to visit and they told me this is not true. i hate when im gullible and believe anything people say to me.

INTRODUCING ALDONIOUS

We have a pleasant neighbor named aldonious joesphious buffone. He thought I was hitting on the hot blonde outside his house the first time we talked but I just wanted to make some new friends. He lives in a brick house but we don't look down on him for that. His persistence to fashion me to some whiskey will always stay true to the heart. So this post is for you Aldo.

outback steakhaus

Just to inform everyone. we love outback's delicious meat. except Lauren is a vegetarian. We had to chance to go to Jersey and experience the delightful people during our visit.

TACO TUESDAY ADDENDUM

wanna make roasted veggie enchiladas? they were superb, so you should. first, get vegetables. ( i used some green and red peppers, onions, broccoli, asparagus...maybe something else i forget. you can pretty much use any kinds you want) ok so chop up your veggies into medium small pieces, and pet em in a pan. then put olive oil, salt, pepper and spices on them. (cumin is the best!) roast them in your oven at 425 until they look good. while those are cooking, cut up potatoes and boil em and mash em. then get enchilada sauce ( i found a really good recipe but i dont feel like typing it) and also get some smallish corn tortillas. put a bit of sauce in the bottom of a big pan. take a tortilla, put it in a hot pan for a few seconds to heat it up, then dip it in the sauce, then put some mashed taters, veggies, and cheese in there and roll it up and plop it in the pan. do this until you run out of veggies, taters, or tortillas. this part is really messy so make sure you arent wearing something cute cause you will most likely get food on it. once everything is rolled up, dump the rest of the sauce over the enchiladas and put about a whole bag of cheese on top. bake it in the oven until its hot and melty. bring it upstairs and say "TACO TUESDAY EVERYONE DIG IN!!!!" bring up lots of napkins also. dont forget the silver bullets!

Taco Tuesday

When I first moved to Philly I started TACO TUESDAY cause come on, it has a nice ring to it. Originally it started with Me (Shawn) LP (Lauren Purcell), and Bridget. Now it has grown. Ohh i'm soo proud. This most recent taco tuesday Nash made some amazing potato and veggie enchiladas that were delicious. So the tradition has followed its way down to the Salmon Door and everybody is welcome to stop by and have some of our Mexican feast!

houses with names

Recently, this bitter cold weather has gotten me reminiscing about savannah. Which makes me think about experiencing some of the absolute best times of my life coupled with some of the worst in a very short period of time. (overall, I would say more good than bad) Most of these experiences occurred at a house referred to as 903. I'm pretty sure everyone has lived/hung out/killed lots of brain cells at a house with a name. It's kind of like a young adult rite of passage. So anyways, 1 year ago I was living in the bottom half of a semi-restored victorian house bearing the address 903 Montgomery street. It had all the classic "house with a name" features: a revolving cast of roomates, unhealthy amounts of cigarette smoke, even unhealthier amounts of alcohol, bills that were never paid on time, so much mess and dirt and filth that any efforts to clean were completely in vain, fires in the backyard, vomit, etc. When your drunk, as most of us were a decent amount of the time, it was all fun. Like the time Will and I went to get wood from a nearby construction site to burn in the backyard, and when we walked back to the house we saw 3 cop cars so we just hid across the street and let people who probably didn't even live there deal with it. Or the time someone (probably Matthew) puked on our upstairs neighbors front door. Or the time I sublet my room for a month to a guy who turned out to be a meth addict. I came home after a long christmas break to find him still living there, after having bullshitted for over a month as to why he couldn't come up with 300 dollars he owed me for rent. While I was moving all his belongings to the front porch, my friends and I found bags of burnt steel wool, empty bic pen tubes, lighters, and then realized all the lightbulbs were taken out of the lights in my room. After all this, apparently, he still thought he could let himself into my house and tell me more bullshit and think I would let him stay there "a little bit longer, while his new apartment was getting fixed up" Fuck you dude!! your the biggest piece of shit ever! Even after getting the keys back from him he continued to show up at our house at like 6 am, and knock on the door and try and get someone to let him in. Sometimes someone would drunkenly let him in, not knowing, and we'd wake up to find the piece of shit curled up on the couch, twitching and soaked in his meth withdrawl sweat. One time we didn't let him in and he slept in my roomates car! The worst part was that he still worked at the restaurant I worked at, and would make tips every night and say he was gonna give me money, but somehow he would sneak out without me seeing him. One day he ended up in the house again, he was done with his usual 3 hour shower and was about to leave, so I finally cornered him and demanded money. After pacing around some more, and staring inside the freezer for a good 5 minutes, he walked up to me and pulled a sweaty, crumpled 10 dollar bill out of his sock, dropped it in my hand, then bolted. Oh yea, he also crashed my bike (he said the handlebars "just fell off") and stole my roomates bike. Eventually I think someone wanted to kill him, cause he stole money from the restaurant and just left town. So that was 1 year ago. Now I live in an apartment with 1 great roomate, with nice furniture and no beer cans on the floor, and I don't work in a restaurant any more, and our house is (mostly) clean, and we have "taco tuesday" with our friends and no one gets sloppy drunk and pukes. I don't mean to paint 903 in a negative light, because I'll always have much love for everyone that was a part (minus crystal meth jeff). Sometimes I think I wanna move into the cheapest apartment I can find and work a job that doesn't require me to wake up before noon and drink all the cheap beer I can find, but then I remember it all gets kind of old pretty quick.
